IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) conducts the SO exam to recruit specialist officers from various public sector banks. It is one of the most important bank exam of the year. The IBPS SO exam provides an excellent opportunity for those who want to be part of the leading public sector banks. Basically, it is an entrance exam that selects candidates for several positions such as Agriculture Manager, Marketing Manager, Human Resources / Personnel Manager, IT Manager, Legal Officer, and Rajbhasha Adhikari. The IBPS SO exam is conducted to recruit specialist officers from various participating banks of IBPS. The exams are conducted on various posts, and eligibility and selection criteria also vary for each specialist officer post.

IBPS SO Eligibility


The IBPS SO eligibility criteria have three important aspects.

They are:

  1. IBPS SO Age Limit
  2. Nationality
  3. Educational Qualification

1. Age Limit:

Candidates have to fulfill certain eligibility with regard to the Age limit to appear for IBPS Specialist Officer examination.

Minimum Age – 20years

Maximum Age- 30 years

2.Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be either –

  1. a Citizen of India or
  2. a subject of Nepal or
  3. a subject of Bhutan or
  4. a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

IBPS SO 2020 Prelims Syllabus – The IBPS SO program will cover a variety of topics such as reasoning skills, quantitative aptitude, English, and general awareness.

IBPS SO 2020 Main Syllabus- The IBPS SO Main program will be of graduation level. Candidates’ professional knowledge in their respective field will be tested according to the position for which they have applied.
